How do you become a quality engineer?
The tasks of a quality engineer and those of a quality manager often overlap in a company. The difference between the two lies in the fact that the profession of engineer is a protected profession in Germany. So if you want to be a quality engineer, you need a technical or scientific degree.
It is an advantage if you have a degree in mechanical engineering or production technology, but civil engineering or IT engineering are also good prerequisites if you want to work as a quality engineer.
In addition, a quality engineer must also have a good knowledge of applicable standards and process knowledge in order to do their job.
Good computer skills are a prerequisite.
As a quality engineer, you may also have to deal with international customers and travel as part of your job. Foreign language skills are therefore also an advantage.
In the day-to-day work of a quality engineer, you are often surrounded by other people and have to coordinate or implement new processes. You must therefore also have a strong talent for organisation and very good communication skills.
How much can a quality engineer earn?
It is very difficult to make a generalised statement about salary in the field of quality engineering. The sectors are very different and so are the salaries.
The location and size of a company is also a decisive factor when it comes to salary. The larger the company, the more extensive and responsible the tasks are. Of course, this is usually rewarded with a higher salary.
In principle, however, you will not be disappointed with your salary. Even as a career starter in this field, you can earn between 3,000 and 4,000 euros gross per month.
After that, with some professional experience, you can expect a gross salary of between 49,5000 and 70,000 euros per year.
The salary does not even increase if you have personnel responsibility or a certificate as an auditor.
